The inception of Porte Noire is a classic
tale of passion and knowledge.
Idris and David bonded over their mutual appreciation for wine & champagne.
After enjoying several exquisite bottles over many wholesome dinners and engaging in spirited conversations, they were inspired to visit the renowned regions from which Champagne hailed.
Just a few weeks later, they found themselves en route to Reims, exploring several champagne houses, notably Sanger. The unwavering passion and commitment of the Sanger team, combined with their exceptional champagne cuvées and their commitment to the Champagne School, deeply resonated with Idris. A tour of the school, winery, and cellars later, an idea began to take root.
At its origin, Sanger's mission was to preserve the art and mastery of champagne production, from grape to bottle.
Their collaboration with students played a pivotal role in maintaining the region's heritage. Idris was captivated by this ethos, seeing a perfect alignment with his own values.
Sanger was eager to collaborate with Idris due to his passion and unwavering commitment of championing Champagnes heritage, quality and soul. From this synergy, a new concept emerged.
After several more meetings, tastings, and blending sessions, Sanger began crafting the inaugural Porte Noire cuvées. And thus, a new legacy was born.
